Exciting News for Dadeville Bearcats
The Dadeville R-II School District is thrilled to share exciting plans for the future of our school, students, and community. As we continue to grow, we need your help to make sure our facilities keep pace with the increasing demands of our students and programs. This April 8th, we ask for your support by voting on two important bond propositions that will enhance and expand our campus. Here's everything you need to know.
Why Are These Propositions Needed?
Since the last school bond passed in 2014, Dadeville has seen nearly 50% growth in student enrollment. This growth has been a great success, but it has also placed a significant strain on our current facilities. Classrooms are overcrowded, the music and art building has deteriorated, and students must navigate safety challenges such as crossing parking lots to reach certain areas. These issues directly impact the quality of education and safety for our students.
To address these concerns, the school board has proposed two separate bond measures—Proposition 1 and Proposition 2. Each proposition focuses on key areas that will improve space, safety, and functionality on campus. Both measures are important to meet current and future needs of the district.
Proposition 1: School Classroom Addition – No Tax Increase
The first proposition focuses on classroom expansion and infrastructure improvements without any increase in taxes. This has been made possible by paying down the 2014 bond and planning strategically for this project. Proposition 1 will add 7,556 square feet of new educational space, including:
Six New Classrooms: Relieving overcrowding and creating more room for students to learn and grow.
Dedicated Special Education Classrooms: Providing tailored spaces to meet the needs of students who require extra support.
New Music and Art Spaces: Replacing the 1945 music and art building with a modern facility connected to the main school building, ensuring a better learning environment.
This expansion will improve both the quality of education and the safety of our students without increasing taxes for the community.
Proposition 2: Auxiliary Gym & Activity Center Addition – 65-Cent Tax Increase
The second proposition, if approved, will require a 65-cent tax increase to fund the construction of an 11,575-square-foot auxiliary gym and activity center. This addition will provide critical spaces for both educational and community use. Here’s what Proposition 2 will include:
A New Stage for Events: Offering a dedicated space for school performances, assemblies, and community gatherings.
Indoor Recess Space: Allowing students to play and be active even during bad weather days.
Additional Practice Space for Athletics: Creating flexibility for practice times and keeping the current gym free for regular classes and high school practices.
New Concession Stand and Restrooms: Conveniently located near the ballfields, improving the experience for students, athletes, and spectators.
This proposition will not only enhance student life but also provide the community with improved facilities for various events and activities.
